Furman Brewer, 85, passed away February 4, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital. He was born November 21, 1935 in Robeson County to the late Levi and Quinnie Bell Brewer.
Furman Brewer was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Bascom Brewer, Clayton Brewer, Henry C. (Pap) Brewer, Henry L. (Fish) Brewer, and Levi (Buddy) Brewer Jr., Bertha Lee Brewer Spaulding, Grace Brewer Bell, and Roseanna Brewer Sanderson; and his wife, Mary Catherine McGirt Brewer.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Furman Frederick Brewer of Pembroke; one daughter, Benita Tipton (Danny) of Fuquay Varina; one grandson, Tyler F. Brewer; and a host of family and friends.
Furman was a 1961 graduate of Pembroke State College and began teaching at the East Carolina Indian School in Clinton, NC that same year. He continued his career in education with the Public Schools of Robeson County with more than 32 years of service. Furman was a world traveler, an avid hunter, and lover of birds, evidenced by his extensive pigeon collection. His good sense of humor, jovial personality, and homemade peanut brittle would put a smile on your face. Furman enjoyed singing in the Adult Choir at Berea Baptist Church and was often referred to as "Faithful Furman".
