Everette Woodrow “Woody” Wilson, 74, of North Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

Born on July 12, 1951, in Sanford, Woody was the son of the late Neil Robert Wilson and Thelma Sercy Wilson. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Bobby Allen Wilson, James Robert Wilson, and LeRoy Wilson.

Woody was a devoted husband, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Elayne Hagans Wilson; his brother, Ed Wilson of Fayetteville; his sister, Linda O’Quinn and husband Luther of Lillington; 24 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends who loved him dearly.

Woody was an astute businessman who owned many successful businesses across several industries throughout his life. He had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and a gift for making people laugh with his clever comebacks and unforgettable one-liners. His sense of humor was one of his greatest trademarks, and he could brighten any room simply with a smile. One of Woody’s greatest attributes was his ability to make you feel as though you had been friends forever, even if you had just met.

He was a devoted fan of the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team, despite his wife’s loyal support of the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team; a rivalry that brought plenty of spirited conversation and laughter to their home.

Woody was humble and welcoming, making everyone feel loved and valued. He was knowledgeable on countless subjects and was someone people naturally gravitated toward because he was so easy to talk to. He loved the game of golf, flying airplanes, enjoyed watching Newsmax, and found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Most importantly, Woody loved the Lord. He was a faithful Christian who trusted God deeply, and even in his final days, he boldly professed his faith and his belief that God would work all things for good. His peace, strength, and unwavering trust in the Lord were a testimony to everyone around him.

Woody touched the lives of so many simply by being himself. His kindness, humor, wisdom, and faith left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

To know Woody was to love Woody. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Woody’s memory to Anchor Baptist Church, 3300 State Hwy 50, Little River, South Carolina.
