Elsie Lee Matzke, 76, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on October 28, 2020 at Southeastern Health surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 14, 1944 in Lumberton, to Preather and Ester Mae Hunt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis R. Matzke; sister, Mary Lee Mauney; brothers, Benny Turner, Kenneth Hunt, Jerry Hunt and his twin brother, Terry L. Hunt.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Debbie Troutman (Richard) of Lumberton, Patricia Hunt, Edith Hunt, and Vickie Jacobs (Ricky) all of Fairmont and Lora Hunt of Pembroke; also her brothers, Randy Hunt (Patsy) and Ronnie Hunt (Debbie) of Pembroke, Rickie Hunt (Trema) of Bladenboro and Gregory Hunt of Fairmont; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.
In addition, Elsie was loved by many nieces and nephews residing in Minnesota and Nevada.
Words can’t adequately describe what a truly special and amazing person Elsie was. Her Lutheran faith, upbeat attitude and genuine goodness of heart brought joy to her family, friends and strangers who were lucky enough to cross paths with her over the years.
Elsie will be missed by her family and friends; however, we take comfort in knowing that she is finally “home” with her loving husband, Curt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Billy Graham Library, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte NC, 28201 or to your charity of choice.
