Elmer Ray Jacobs, 78 of Maxton, NC gained his angel wings on the morning of April 25, 2025, at home. Ray, as he was affectionately known was born on July 18,1946 to the late Rev. Frank Jacobs, Sr. and the late Jessie Lee Wynn Jacobs.

Ray was predeceased by his siblings: James Robert Jacobs, Alvernor Jacobs, Earl C. Jacobs, Roy Lee Jacobs, Frank Jacobs Jr., Harold Jacobs, Kenny Jacobs, Earlene Stacks, Mable Webb, Euneal Middleton, Lucille Locklear and Marie Jones.

Ray spent his career working in construction until his health declined. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting on the front porch, drinking Pepsi and smoking cigarettes.

Ray came into the world in the corner of the living room of the family homeplace. The same place where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior two years ago. The same place where the angels came to receive him to his heavenly home. Ray was a humble man and never complained throughout his cancer diagnosis.

Ray leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 54 years, Beatrice Dial Jacobs of the home; one son, James Jacobs of Maxton; three grandchildren Jayla Jacobs, Josiah Jacobs, and Janay Jacobs of the home; special granddaughter Kristen Richardson (Tavis) and children Karlee and Kai of Rocky Mount; one brother, Jimmy Jacobs of Maxton; two sisters, Angela Jacobs (Joe Marks) of Maxton and Laura Jacobs of Rowland; step-mother, Glenda Jacobs of Maxton; special niece, Linda Locklear (Randy) of Lumberton. Ray is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
