Ella Rose Chavis Obituary
Ms. Ella Rose Chavis, 89, of Lumberton was born March 1st, 1936, to the late Frank & Ellen ‘Tenience’ Chavis. She departed this life to her eternal heavenly home on September 21st, 2025, peacefully in her home.
Ella Rose was preceded in death by her husband; Willie, 3 children; Franklin, Michael, Debra; 4 brothers; Earl, Ronald, Marvin, David Wesley ‘Buddy’.
Ms. Chavis was a faithful church member of The Rock (Hestertown) COG for many years & later to Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was always faithful to support. One thing she always believed in & shared was “you got to pay your tithes into the church”. She was a dedicated employee at Converse & retired after working over 30 years.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her youngest child, Andre (Christine) & daughter in law, Carolyn Sue Chavis (widow of Michael); also 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, & 1 great-great grandchild.
She is also survived by 5 sisters; Nurzie Stickney, Betty Jane Haymore, Diane Oxendine, Patricia Locklear, Sheila Burns, also many nieces, nephews, extended family, & friends that will remember her fondly. Finally, she also leaves to cherish her memory a very special caretaker; Marquita Brooks-Chavis, who provided exceptional care, loved, & comforted her a great deal during her sickness.
In honor of Grandma Ella Rose, we want to remind you of her words she said so many times “we don’t say bye, we say see ya later”. This is just a see ya later…”
