Mr. Elkins Wilkins was born August 12, 1924 in Robeson County, NC to the late Robert Wilkins and Peggy L. Jacobs. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Sallie Oxendine Wilkins, a son Robert Wilkins, two daughters, Violet Rose Thompson and Gladys Marie Locklear, five brothers, Eutie Wilkins, Lee Wilkins, Elmer Wilkins, Elbert Jacobs, and Delbert Jacobs, three sisters, Margie Jones, Idell Locklear and Evelyn Jacobs.

Mr. Wilkins left to cherish his memory, three sons, Otis Wilkins (Reba), Odell Wilkins (Martha) of Lumberton, NC and Jerry Wilkins (Rose) of Shannon, NC, three daughters, Peggy Chavis (Belated Robert), Darlene Locklear (Belated Sorbin) of Lumberton, NC, and Sandra Mitchell of Shannon, NC. He also left thirty grandchildren, seventy-three great grandchildren, and thirty-six great-great grandchildren, a special caregiver, Melissa Mitchell. His additional family includes, son, Monroe Locklear (Louise), daughter, Mary Alice Smith (Artis) both of St. Pauls, NC and special grandson Johnny Ray Wilkins of the home.

Mr. Wilkins served in the army. He loved and served in his church as deacon for many, many years.
