Mr. Eddie Ray Oxendine, Sr., 65, of Lumberton, North Carolina was born in Robeson County on January 5,1957. He was the late son of the deceased; James Rudolph Oxendine and Elaine Faye Oxendine; father of deceased; Eddie Ray Oxendine Jr. He parted ways from his journey here on Earth to our heavenly kingdom in the skies above on Monday morning January 17, 2022.
Eddie was a devout Christian man and loving father, who cherished every moment that life had to offer. He knew time is something we don’t always have on our side and is hard to get back. Moments most precious to Eddie were the ones spent with his children and family. Eddie was a man that had a craft for small engines and deep affection for the Lord. It wasn’t until after Eddie’s motorcycle accident, where he became a paraplegic. Shortly after, is where he found his love and affection for the Lord. Eddie’s newfound passion for the
Lord gave him the motivation and determination to become the man, the father, and Christian, God set him out to be. Eddie took it upon himself to seek out his higher education, where he achieved his certification in small engines. Eddie
was an established man of many traits, another sentiment close to Eddie’s heart was riding and working on his Harley. His 40 years as a paraplegic made him ambitious and compassionate. Through all his trials and tribulations, Eddie never faltered with his faith and undying love for his family. If Eddie could make something inevitable happen, it made others look twice at what they were capable of doing. He just made everything look easy! During Eddie’s journey on Earth, he taught us to see that the lord gives us happiness and the lord gives us strength during times of adversity. We must cherish every moment with our
loved ones, no matter the issues amongst one another. Eddie knew life is precious, and so was his.
Eddie is survived by his children, sons; Kevin Steen and Scott Ash; daughters, Christine West, Charlene Oxendine Davis, Michelle Oxendine Diaz, and her Husband Enrique Diaz; Siblings, Joan Hunt and Frankie Paul; Nephew, Paul Hunt; Niece, Laura Hunt; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
