Earl Huggins age 79 of 6091 Union Chapel Road went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Morrison Manor hospice facility in Laurinburg, NC. He was born in Robeson County to Remmer “Bird” Huggins and Lee Ilar Cummings Huggins on January 23, 1941.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Jorden Huggins; brothers James Alford Huggins, Tom Huggins, Gearl Huggins Sr, Elbert Huggins, Ray Locklear, Paul Locklear; and sisters Trudie Mae Emanuel, Ilar Jeanette Huggins, Daisy Smith and Susan Locklear.
His memories remain with his wife of 59 years, Sallie Harris Huggins; daughter Lisa Oxendine (Terry), son Earl Ray Huggins, daughter Jennifer Jones (Tarry); granddaughters Anastasia Oxendine Hunt (Dean), Jennah Hardin Chavis (Micheal), Jillian Hardin, and Isabel Huggins; great-granddaughters Kayleigh Oxendine, Naomi Chavis, Zalaya Hunt, a great-grandchild due in 2021; brothers Eddie Locklear (Ok Son), Johnny Locklear (Pam); sister Gertrude Huggins Chavis (Wilson) and many other relatives and friends.
He was a brick mason in Robeson and surrounding counties and had interesting stories of homes and commercial buildings he worked on including hospitals, schools, and churches. He learned to fly his own airplane and build and race his own cars. He was a man who listened and his words were valued by those around him. He loved Jesus with his whole heart and quoted John 3:16, his favorite scripture. He shared the Word of God through talking with others and teaching at Bethel Hill Baptist Church. On his last day at home, despite pain in his body, he sang Jesus Loves Me and Precious Memories.
