Mrs. Dorothy Godwin of 3951 Moss Neck Road, Pembroke, NC was born on August 20, 1934 to the late Belton Smith and Viola Smith Brewington. On August 8, 2025, she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Mr. Worth Godwin; two sons Aubrey and Aloysius Godwin; a foster son Samuel Godwin; siblings Dora Oxendine, Annie L. Rogers, and Belton Smith Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Dorothea Woods (Harry) and Ramona Maynor (Brian); one son: Randy Godwin (Karen); her grandchildren Kiah, Kailey, and Brett Godwin, Ashton Emanuel, Nicholas, Zachary, Rachel, John, Noah, and Lydia Maynor, Sarah Locklear, Alicia Godwin, and Josey Woods; ten great-grandchildren, and one brother: James P. Smith “Rooster” (Ruby).
Mrs. Dorothy renowned for her cooking and love of sharing the foods she prepared, will be deeply missed by those she fed and loved. Those she cherished, cherished her in equal amount.
She will be deeply missed by a host of nieces and nephews and a special nephew/caretaker Roy Vest (Donna) as well as many other friends and family.
