Donald Dean Carter (Billy Bear), 68, of Lumberton, NC was born on April 19, 1957. He departed on April 24, 2025 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his father, Angus Burn Carter, his mother, Magdeline Hunt Carter, and his beloved sister, Dianne Carter Freeman.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Lowery of Lumberton, Donald Carter, Jr, Byron Carter also of Lumberton, his three grandchildren, Zachary Carter, Tristan Brewington, Heidi Sampson, Nolan Malone, a step grandchild, April Chavis, four great grandchildren, Elana Sampson, Harlynn Sampson, Zayn Carter.

He is also survived by his six brothers, Larry Hunt (Stephanie) of Pembroke, Guilford Carter of Lumberton, Ronald Carter (Brenda) of Fairmont, Robert Carter (Holly) of San Diego, California, David Carter (Pearlie) of Coeburn, Virginia, Wayne Carter (Darlene) of Raynham, one half sister, one half brother, Gary Carter of Fairmont, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Debra Locklear, his sister-in-law, and caregiver.

Donald was a phenomenal carpet, tile and hardwood installer until his health declined. No job was too big or too small.
