Delton Chavis
Obituary
Mr. Delton Chavis, 81, of Lumberton, NC was born November 10, 1941, to the late Rommie Lee Chavis and Minnie B. Chavis. He departed this life on January 23, 2023, at home with his family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Retha Jane Chavis, Stella Rea Chavis, and Francis Chavis; and one brother, Roy Chavis.
Mr. Chavis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rosie Mary Chavis; a son, Thomas Lee Cummings; two great-grandsons, Sabastion Lee Cummings and Kasen Lee Cummings; a stepdaughter, Dina Lynn Locklear; one special niece, Penny Locklear; two other nieces and a nephew, all of Lumberton; and a host of family and friends.
Mr. Delton Chavis was a member of the Navy for 5 years and the National Guard for 26 years. He enjoyed being an umpire for 17 years with the National Guard.
