David Terryl Ransom was born on September 30, 1964 in Lumberton, NC to Marvin and Flora Chavis Ransom.  He had 3 older sisters who were delighted to get a baby brother.  His mother even allowed Cheryl and Angela to name him, which to this day they find hard to believe. 

He grew up surrounded by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  One of his favorite family events was Christmas Eve at Uncle Ray’s house. 

David will always be remembered by his nickname “Handsome Ransom”, and as someone who loved to have fun, laugh, dance, and enjoy the company of others. He once famously proclaimed, “Music is my life!” You could always find him playing a record and dancing in the living room. He enjoyed all sports, and he was a huge fan of UNC basketball and Carolina Panthers football. He was known to his nurses as the “movie man.” He would always bring a movie to his treatments or talk about movies.

David’s greatest joy in life was his four children: Terryn (husband Ryan), Ryan (wife Chandler), Kaylee, and Emilee and his three grandchildren: Ryder, Rynlee, and Rhyah. He had an extraordinary ability to create lasting memories, making holidays extra fun and eventful. Though he is no longer with us, David leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and community spirit. His helpful spirit and sociable nature will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him, keeping his memory alive. 

He will be joining his parents, oldest sister Betty Ann Ransom Merriman, and the love of his life, LaChelle Blanks Ransom in heaven.  He leaves here on earth two sisters: Cheryl Ransom Locklear and Angela Ransom Maynor along with many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
