David Chavis, 56, of 1061 Biggs Road, Lumberton, NC died Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Morrison Manor.  He was born in Robeson County on August 4, 1969 to the late Robert Lee Chavis, Sr and Dorothy Graham Chavis.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Lee Chavis, Jr.

David is survived by seven brothers, Brantly Chavis, Carlton Chavis (Helena), Leon Chavis (Kim), Millard Chavis, Eric Chavis (Debbie), Norrison Chavis (Joyce), Rev. Sanford Chavis (Levena), all of Lumberton, three sisters, Barbara E. Smith, Kathy C. Locklear, both of Lumberton, and Pandora Mills (Quinton) of N. Augusta, SC and a host of nieces and nephews.

David was a man who led with humor and a deep, steady love for his family. He was also a devoted uncle who took pride in his nieces and nephews cherishing every moment with them.
