Mr. Colon Oxendine,75, of 1825 Biggs Rd. Rowland, NC was born on December 13, 1947 in Robeson County and gained his heavenly wings on March 17, 2023.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Mary E. Oxendine; two brothers, Jackie Oxendine (Lumberton) and Lowell Dean Oxendine (Alabama; and one sister, Janice Locklear (Rowland).
He is survived by his lovely wife of 51 years, Janice Oxendine of the home; four daughters, Laura Sampson(Kenneth) of Lumberton, Angela Oxendine of Rowland, Linda Blue (Chris) of Rowland, and Lora Oxendine (Raymond Hunt) of Rowland; one son, Colon Ray Oxendine; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Locklear (Lumberton); and two brothers, Hubert Oxendine (Lumberton) and Frank Oxendine (Rowland); a special Brother in Law, Lenard Jones; special son, Johnny Lowery(Robin); and a host of relatives and friends.
Colon was the husband beyond measure to his lovely wife of 51 yrs. When he asked for his 16-year-old sweetheart’s hand in marriage, her father, Deacon Jones, said “Yes, but you have to finish raising her.” He was a devoted family man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was an active member for 40 yrs. of Hestertown, The Rock Church of God, were he served as an usher and in the finance office. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, family vacations, socializing with his friends and family. At the end of your conversation with him he would always end with his three favorite words, “GOD BLESS YOU!”
