Mrs. Clara Jean Adams Chavis 80, of Pembroke, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 5, 2024. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on September 2, 1944 to the late Raymond and Ellen Adams.
She is preceded in death by her 2 brothers Curtis Ray Adams (Joan Adams), Bobbie Gene Hall and 2 sons, Johnny Dean Chavis and Leonard Neil Chavis.
She is survived by her daughter Uella Jean Jones (Chris Jones) of Maxton, NC and son James Timothy Bell (Amy Bell) of Oklahoma. 10 grandchildren: Callista (Shaun), Krystina (PJ), Christopher (Lakaya), Samuel, Johanna, Jacobie, Zachary, Conner, Cordell, and Matthew. 6 great-grandchildren: Kaitlan (Noah), Shaun Matthew, Aaralyn, Kenston, Jazmin, and Bryson.
Mrs. Jean (as she was lovingly known) was a devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God. Doing anything, she could for the uplifting of the Kingdom of God. Serving Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church as Christian Education Director, GEMS Director, Women's Ministry Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Play Director. Her love and faithfulness to God and family was comparable to no other. She was a mother to many, whether babysitting and caring for children in the home or teaching them in Sunday School or GEMS. She was a role model of servitude and dedication. She was a person of few words, but they were encouraging and wise. She instilled in her family the importance of the Word of God and being a person of integrity.
