Charsie McNeill Obituary

Mrs. Charsie Chavis McNeill
Scottsdale, Arizona

Mrs. Charsie Chavis McNeill, 92, of Scottsdale, Arizona, was born to the late Mr. French Chavis and Mrs. Anna Belle “Sudie” Lowry. She passed away peacefully on the morning of August 15th.

She was preceded in death by her four brothers Garvie, W.J., Ponce de Leon, and John Chavis and two sisters, Nancy Oxendine and Pearlie Mae Jones. Mrs. Charsie was deeply loved by her many nieces and nephews, and it was her joy and honor to be present in their lives. Her extended family and countless friends were too numerous to name, but she was always just a phone call away.

Mrs. Charsie was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Micheal McNeill of Pembroke, North Carolina. She is survived by her children: Mr. Rodney McNeill and wife Kathie McNeill of Glendora, California; Mrs. Judy Krendick and husband Steve Krendick of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Mr. Brian McNeill of Pembroke, North Carolina.

She leaves behind 16 grandchildren; Nicole Craig, Rodney James (R.J.) McNeill, Jake McNeill, Chris Reese, Nicole Barbari, Jeremy Reese, Monique McNeill, Alana (Ali) Krendick, Carson (Max) Krendick, Stephen Krendick Jr., Kathy Krendick, Michael Huber, Chelsey McNeill, Sierra McNeill, Brian Glynn McNeill Jr., Pilar Jones and the late Briana McNeill,  as well as 10 great-grandchildren: Malena McNeill, Asilah Barbari, Ethan Barbari, Jaxon McNeill, Juliette McNeill, Arian Reese, Logan Reese, Aliza Reese, Jakai Spivey and Nixon Godwin. She is also survived by her brother, Mr. Stoney Chavis of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Mrs. Charsie’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the family storyteller, often sharing treasured memories and family history with younger generations eager to learn their roots. She will be fondly remembered for her holiday cakes and candies, lovingly prepared for family gatherings. A devoted sister, she loved her siblings deeply and never hesitated to drop everything to care for them.

Her life was guided by her deep Christian faith, her devotion as a mother, and her unwavering desire to put others first. She maintained an impeccable standard of dress and was known for her elegant style. She considered her greatest accomplishments to be those of a loving wife and mother, grandmother, and friend, and her home was the heart of many joyful celebrations.

Beyond her role in the family, Mrs. Charsie was an accomplished Accountant and served as the Executive Director for the National Easter Seals Society of Wayne County. She organized numerous charitable events, raising thousands of dollars, and took great pride in serving her community.

Funeral services, entrusted to Revels Funeral Home, will be held in Pembroke, North Carolina, on Sunday, August 24th, officiated by Kelvin Locklear. Burial will follow at the Lowery family cemetery.
