Mrs. Charlotte Louise Wallace Locklear, 83, of Pembroke, North Carolina, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by her family and the promise of eternal life through her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on December 4, 1942, in Houston, Texas, Charlotte lived a life marked by faith, compassion, service, and an unwavering love for both God and people.   Her faith, joyful spirit, and powerful testimony touched countless lives. Whether in her church, her workplace, or her community, Charlotte never missed an opportunity to tell others about the goodness of God and the power of prayer.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lila Wallace; her brothers, Freddie and Martin Wallace; her sisters, Claudette, Sylvia, Bernadette, Clio, and Bobbie Wallace; her children, Jimmy Ray Wallace and Tammy Jo Wallace; her beloved husband, Donald Ray Locklear; grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Wallace and David Blake Deese; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Locklear; and nephew, Freddy Blair.

She leaves behind a loving family: her daughter, Debra Wallace Jones; granddaughters, Melissa , Kristin, Shannon, Michaela, Jessica, and Jamie; grandsons, Houston, Jimmy, Jeremie and Justin; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Josiah, Gavin, Kaylee, Kaden, Jayla, Elie, Sarah, Haizlee, Emerson, Zoee, Aaliyah, Dorman, and his mother, Miranda.

In 1982, Charlotte made Pembroke her home and quickly became a familiar and beloved presence in the community. She began her career at Sheff’s Seafood, where she worked as a waitress and dining room manager, later joining Walmart as a sales associate. For many years, she was among the first smiling faces customers encountered. Her kindness, work ethic, and genuine concern for others left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.

After accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, Charlotte's passion for ministry and service flourished. She became actively involved in GEMS (Girls Entering the Master's Service), faithfully mentoring and encouraging young girls in their walk with Christ. She worked tirelessly to support church ministries, helping organize and lead efforts for numerous projects. Alongside her sisters-in-law, Mary Ann and Rosie, she helped establish an outreach ministry that provided food, clothing, and school supplies to children and families in need.

Charlotte was part of The Overcomers!, a Relay for Life team that raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society. In later years, she was a founding member of Brush Arbor Christian Fellowship Church, where she faithfully attended and served until the final Sunday before her passing. She welcomed visitors with open arms and cared for children in the nursery and Vacation Bible School

Charlotte was known throughout her church family for her heartfelt testimonies and unwavering confidence in God's promises. Even amid trials, she remained faithful, often reminding others that the Lord had never failed her and never would. Her life was a living testimony of God's grace, mercy, and provision.

While Charlotte deeply loved her church family and friends, nothing compared to her devotion to her family. She was a loving mother who taught her children about the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, she was known for her delicious meals, her endless encouragement, and her desire to speak about Jesus Christ. Her family knew they could always count on her prayers, wisdom, and faith.

Charlotte possessed a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. She believed every person was created in God's image and worthy of kindness and compassion, despite their plight in life. Through her generosity, encouragement, and Christ-centered example, she touched many lives. Those who knew her were better for having known her.

While her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the blessed assurance that she is now walking the streets of glory, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and worshiping in the presence of the Savior she faithfully served throughout her life. Though her voice is now silent on earth, her testimony will continue to speak through the lives she touched, the prayers she prayed, and the faith she passed on to future generations.
