Charles A. Maynor

Charles Alton Maynor, 79, joined his Lord and Savior in heaven on May 9, 2021. He was born on June 24, 1941 to Mr. Charles W. Maynor and Mrs. Arpie Maynor.

Alton was a proud husband, father, grandfather, veteran and graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Appalachian State University. As a retired teacher and business owner of Southern Interiors and Design for more than 40 years, he was a pilar in his community. He gave back through his non-profit, PAWSS Inc. and his service on Lumbee Guaranty Banks Board. Alton truly enjoyed life through simple pleasures of chatting with customers at his store, fishing, and spending time with his family. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive and deep way.

Alton is survived by his wife, Shelia; daughter, Sherry (Cory); sons, Patrick (Chasity) and Wesley (Nicole); sister, Eunila Maynor Hunt; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A private funeral will be held on May 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. Viewing will be at 1 p.m. prior to service at Bear Swamp Baptist Church. Burial will be at Maynor Cemetery after services. A special thank you to Scotland Memorial Hospital ICU and Scotland Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care.
