Charles Gardner Obituary

A Journey Begins...

"Let not your heart be troubled neither be afraid; I go to prepare a place for you."

       God Almighty in His wise providence called the soul of Mr. Charles Ellis "Boot Boy" Gardner, from his labors on earth to an everlasting home, on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 surrounded by his Wife, Children and Grandchildren, in the McLeod Regional Medical Center, Florence, South Carolina after an illness.

       Mr. Charles Ellis Gardner, a son of Mrs. Stella Rea Gardner and the late Mr. Johnny "Boot" Gardner, was born in Florence County on February 2, 1967.

      Mr. Charles Ellis Gardner, was preceded in death by; his grandson, Tyler Blake Sampson; his grandmother, Julia Gardner and his uncle, George Gardner.

      He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence County, in the Olanta Community. Later in life, he received his Associate Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. He was the Owner/Manager of The New Gospel Skyways. He worked for the Liberty Corner Store as the Security Manager and many years with State of NC Department of Transportation. He became a member of Charity Church of God in Lumberton, NC, where he served as head Drummer under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Hunt for 20 years, until his death.

      Mr. Charles Ellis Gardner, leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 38 years, Martha Gardner of the home; two daughters, Alexise Gardner of the home and Patricia (Samuel Jr) Sampson; two goddaughters, Santana Sampson and Courtney Locklear; three sons, Timothy Gardner of the home, Charles (Caitlain) Gardner, Jr all of Lumberton, NC and Terrance (Brande) Hilton of Spring Lake, NC. Grandchildren; Madison Sampson, Kaydynce Gardner, Terrance Hilton Jr, Domarria Mitchell and Alaya Mills; his mother, Stella Rea Gardner of Olanta, SC; two brothers, Johnny (Shalanda) Gardner, Jr and Willie (Lora) McDowell both of South Carolina; five sisters, Rosa Mae Burgess of Lumberton, NC, Alisha Epps, Lori G. Smith, Barbara Myers and Sherrie (Spencer) Harrison all of South Carolina; one god sister Cynthia Hammonds of Lumberton, NC; three aunts, Barbara McElveen, Annette Nero and Delphin Gardner; four sisters-in-law, Isabel Jones, Sybil Dunbar, Elizabeth McClain (Randy) and Patricia Stone (Nathaniel); three brothers-in-law, Joe McClain (Sherry), Matthew McClain (Towana) and John McClain (Sebrena); a special niece Elaine (Kenyatta) Green; Best friend of 22 years John Ferguson; special adopted family members, Baxter (Deloris) Miller and Richard (Stephanie) Miller; Fur Friends, Charlie Ellis Gardner and Ladybug Paige Sampson; a host of additional nieces, nephews, close cousins, other relatives and friends; his extended church family, Charity Church of God.
