Carnelious Hunt Obituary

Carnelious Hunt Obituary

Carnelious Hunt, age 84 of Pembroke, North Carolina was born May 10, 1941, to the late Carnelious and Fannie Hunt in Robeson County. He departed this life into eternity on July 30, 2025 at Scotland Regional Hospice in Laurinburg, North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, John H. Hunt and Clemon Hunt, both of Richmond, Virginia.

Carnelious enjoyed a trucking career that afforded him the opportunity to travel all over the state of North Carolina. Employed by Thurston and Averitt for over 30 years, he was able to use his love for “nice trucks” as a way to provide for his family.

To no one’s surprise, Carnelious’ love for “nice trucks” led to a hobby of collecting them. Over the years he owned many vehicles, including a Corvette and one special white ’56 Ford Pickup. His love of fast vehicles quite naturally led him to be an avid fan of NASCAR. He attended many races including Rockingham, Darlington, Charlotte, and Daytona.

Carnelious also had a passion for “tinkering” and collecting bright colored antiques. He was often found in his building “simply working” as he would say. If he wasn’t outside working on a vehicle, he was in his recliner watching a western. Gunsmoke, Bonanza, anything that came on channel 461 were his favorites.

A quiet, mostly soft-spoken man, he loved to dance to loud music. He loved bright, flashy suits and shoes. He enjoyed out of town trips with family to see bright lights. Most importantly he loved being around family, especially if there was food involved. Simply put, Carnelious lived and loved life to the fullest, yet he remained humble. He knew all of his blessings came from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a proud member of Reedy Branch Baptist Church, in Fairmont, North Carolina.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Lowry Hunt of the home. His memory lives on with his son, Ricky Hunt of Fairmont; two grandsons, Cody of Lumberton and Galin of Pembroke; and one great grandson, Kingston of Lumberton; two brothers, Bobby Hunt (Peggy) of Lumberton and Lathurd “Toby” Hunt of Fairmont, and one sister, Odessa Graham of Pembroke; and a very loving and special niece, Connie Hunt.

His memory will be cherished by Anthony Ray Locklear (Charlene) of Pembroke; their two children, Ashton and Garret; and three grandchildren, Nylah Grace, Catilaya Jade, and Jhett Jackson; and he will be forever remembered by Daniel Kelly Locklear (Cassandra) of Little River, South Carolina; and he shared many cherished memories with Craig Lowry (Elaine); their two children, Elliott Lowry (Candace) and Anya Oxendine (Skyler); and six grandchildren, Eli, Callie, Cesi, Caydie, Lilly, and Lexi, as well as a host of many friends and family members who will miss him dearly.
