Callie Mae Pevia Locklear was born June 10, 1942 and departed this earth January 13, 2025, at Scotland Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina to her parents Ashley Pevia and Mary Maggie Oxendine Pevia, who preceded her in death.
Ashley and Mary Maggie’s Tobacco farm is where the core values started to form inside Callie Mae of hard work, resiliency, and determination. These three values would grow deep roots into how she handled every area of her life.
Callie Mae was proceeded in death by her husband James Charlie (Bud) Locklear after 56 years of marriage. She was a widow for 6 years. She was preceded in death by her brothers Timmy and Fuller and her sisters Carol and Edith.
Callie Mae is survived by her children Gabriel, Ramona, and Sharkell. Her grand children: Callie, Joseph, Jeremiah, Matthew, Jordan, Isaac, James, Jadelyn (Lucy), Jillian, and Braiden. Her siblings Marie, Tony, Ashley, Ernest, Ralph, Elizabeth, Doris, Wanda, Dorothy, and Evelyn. She has 6 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Callie Mae completed the 8th grade from Union Chapel School and went on to become a successful small business owner. She owned and operated Callie’s convenience store from 1987-2020. She was a part of the church body, Charity Outreach Church of God. She will be missed deeply by her family and community.
