Mrs. Brenda Sue Locklear of Lumber Bridge, NC was born to the late Bradie and Lester Mae Locklear on December 01, 1949, in Robeson County and was born into eternity on Monday, May 2, 2022, at Duke Medical Center, completing her journey of 72 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Leon Locklear, brother-in-law Jerry Hunt, niece Pamela Locklear Chavis and great-grandson Kayden Jones.
Mrs. Locklear was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and oversaw the flower and a choir member. She retired from Glenflora Nursing Home where she devoted many years and made long lasting friendships. Mrs. Locklear was the epitome of a true friend and never met a stranger. She truly loved her parents, husband, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, classmates, and friends. She saw the absolute best in everyone and always forgave no matter what. If you had the opportunity to have met Ms. Locklear if only for a moment, it was a great blessing and privilege. Ms. Locklear was the matriarch of her family, and her grace, beauty, love, and compassion will be missed forever more.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Joe Locklear; her children, twin daughters Beverly Jones Zabitosky and Stephanie Jones Smith (Harold Smith); son, Eddie Floyd Jones, Jr.; daughter, Nanette Jones; and a granddaughter whom she raised, Shamallory Jones; stepchildren, Judy Lewis, Joe Jr. Locklear, and Tiffany Lewis; grandchildren, Brian, and Bradley (Kaitlyn) Hunt, Sidney (Morgan) Hunt and Kinsley Locklear, Kiara (Landon), EJ (Stephanie), Reba, Savannah, Vander, Lester, Ridge and Charlie Ray Jones, Brienen (Ashley) Hunt, Brianna Jones, Christopher Brock (Kayla) Locklear and Trey Locklear; 27 great grandchildren; sisters, Annie Lois Locklear, Shelby Matthews, Shirlene Locklear and Judith Hunt; brothers, Rudolph Locklear, Earnest Locklear, Gurney Locklear and Gregory (Jenny) Locklear; sisters-in-law, Jessie Chavis and Mary Locklear; and a host of family and friends.
