In the quiet hours of a tender morning, our beloved family Queen, Bonnie Revels Swett, born December 17, 1941, slipped peacefully into eternity on May 28, 2026, at her home located at 2612 Lowe Road in Lumberton, North Carolina. She leaves behind a legacy carved from resilience, compassion, and a spirit that refused to dim.

She now joins in eternal rest her parents, Alice and Norman Revels; her beloved sisters, Raymona Swett and Mary Lois Locklear; her sister-in-law, Ophelia Revels; her nephew Boyce Locklear; and her precious great granddaughter, Maliyah Liselle Cummings, whose memory remained close to her heart.

She was a devoted mother to her five daughters: Sylvia Hardin (Jeff) of Pembroke; Deborah Atkinson (Ed) of Laurinburg; Arlene Swett of Rowland; and Darlene Clark of Lumberton and Karen Lewis (Heath) of St. Pauls. Her love extended through ten grandchildren—Aimee Lowry (Joey), Heather Hitchens, Jessica Cummings (Nikitah), Leslie Chavis, Anthony Knight Jr., Ryan Oxendine (Mckayla), Joshua Oxendine (Rosie), Alexis Hardin, Arica Oxendine, and Kayla Lewis—and further still to her 21 great‑grandchildren, each one a testament to the family she nurtured. She is also survived by two brothers, Leon (Lula) Revels, and Donald (Letha) Revels, and two sisters, Normie (David) Robinson, and Earlene Sanderson.

Her circle of love extended beyond generations, embracing her honorary son Dustin Locklear, daughter Christine Oxendine, and grandchildren, Darrian Ivey and Evan Atkinson.

In her final years, she received devoted daily care from her great granddaughter, Layleeana Sampson, whose love and dedication allowed her to remain in the comfort of her own home.

She was deeply connected to her community, especially her church family at Tabernacle Baptist Church, the Mt.  Airy Bible Study Group, her classmates from the graduating class of 1961, and her friends from the Union Chapel Quilting Club — each of whom brought her fellowship, encouragement, and companionship throughout her life. Although she did not drive, she was blessed with countless individuals who made sure she always had transportation, a kindness which  was appreciated more than words could express.

Her legacy is etched into the lives of everyone she touched. Whether it was through her cooking, her stories, her prayers or simply the way she listened, she left pieces of her love with all of us. We will forever cherish the memories we shared- the laughs, the conversations, the lessons, the trips and even the quiet moments that meant so much. We find comfort in knowing that the legacy of our Queen will stay with us forever!
