Mrs. Beverly Jean Clark Locklear completed her journey of 66 years on April 23, 2024 for her eternal resting place. Beverly was the sixth child of Mr. Garland and Mrs. Berlene Clark and was born on April 23, 1958 in Scotland County. She married the love of her life, Mr. Clayton Locklear, on September 30, 1978 and the two of them created a home for two lovely children, Mr. Eric Clayton Locklear and Ms. Erica Jean Locklear. However, she was a mother to others including Ms. Chloe Locklear and Mr. Nolan Locklear. Beverly loved her children but she experienced a different level of love when her grandchildren, Eric Clinton Locklear and Jasia Nicole Locklear were born. She spent a great deal of time with them and enjoyed watching them grow.
Beverly was extremely close to her extended family and would often spend time cooking, visiting, laughing and enjoying their company. She is survived by three brothers: Mr. Elton Ray (Lucy) Clark of Maxton, Mr. Roger Clark and Mr. Kenneth (Tonya) Clark both of Rowland; three sisters: Ms. Linda Goodman, Ms. Regina Clark, and Mrs. Mary Ann (Jackie) Oxendine, all of Rowland; a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Beverly accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life and dedicated her life to serving God with all that she had. She was a devoted member of Mt. Hebron Holiness Church where she served in many capacities including: Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, Finance Committee, Activity Committee, Program Director as well as others. She was willing to serve in any capacity in order to enhance the Kingdom of God.
Beverly’s greatest gift was her unwavering love for others and this was evident with her establishing Aunt Bet’s Daycare, where she provided love and care for children in her community. She was a true example of John 15:12, “That ye love one another, as I have loved you,” and her family and friends can truly testify to the love she showed them. Beverly will truly be missed but her memories will live on in the lives of all who loved her.
