Mrs. Annie Lee Oxendine of 285 Neiman Drive, Fairmont was born July 25, 1942 in Robeson County. She entered into eternal rest on August 25, 2020 at home surrounded by family, completing her journey of 78 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. J.D. Oxendine, daughter Sue Neal Oxendine and great-grandson Sammy Bartley. Also five stillborn great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents Bartow and Corina Chavis, and five sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Oxendine was a devoted member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and attended the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a seamstress at Fairmont Knitting Mill and a homemaker for many years. She was a loving grandmother who raised three of her grandsons, Jimmy Lynn Bartley, James Weldon Bartley and the Rev. Jerel Brewer.
Mrs. Oxendine leaves to cherish her memories, one son Norman Oxendine Jr of Fairmont; five daughters Amy Locklear of Lumberton, Shelby Bartley of the home, Snowdie Brewer (Gene) of Lumberton, Amy Michelle Jacobs (Michael) of Shannon and Yolanda Oxendine of St. Pauls; three stepsons Johnny Oxendine, Elvis Oxendine, and Norman “Rabbit” Oxendine Jr. Six sisters Cora Lee Hunt (Robin) of Lumberton, Marie Chavis of Rowland, Mary Frances Oxendine (Alton Ray) of Orrum, Joyce Lowery of Lumberton, Donna Fay Oxendine of Orrum and Judy Hunt of Fairmont. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Also, a special friend, Mazie Hunt.
