He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Jones, his mother, Froney Jones, six sisters, Mary Bell Locklear, Gladys Strickland, Annie Ruth Hunt, Georgiana Locklear, Leanna Norton, Clara Jones, three brothers, French Jones, Leroy Jones, and Albert Jones.
