After a difficult battle with kidney disease, Mrs. Alice Harriet Henderson, 68, of Rowland NC passed away peacefully on July 10, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
Born in Hamlet, North Carolina to Belton Sr. and Marcie Lee McMillian, Alice was described as a bundle of joy. Alice was passionate about nursing, family, and friends from a very young age. Alice met Oscar Junior Henderson at Prospect School and immediately fell in love. They went on to be married and together had five children.
Alice was a fiercely dedicated mother, faithful wife, strong-willed and independent woman and devoted nurse to all in need. Alice was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn’t have Alice as a mother. Alice was a Licensed Practical Nurse Level 2 for 43 years and loved her job extremely. She worked for Maxton Medical, Scotland Memorial Hospital, Moore Regional Hospital, Southeastern Memorial Hospital, UNC-Pembroke Clinic, Angelic Care, Sunbridge Nursing Home, Morgan Center, and Dr. Martian Brooks Medical Office. Many of her patients, co-workers and friends have shared stories about Mrs. Alice. Alice was a Sunday school member of Turnpike Baptist Church and visited many sick members of the community that needed comfort care.
Alice was predeceased in death by her parents Belton and Marcie Lee McMillian, husband Oscar Junior Henderson and daughter Marcie Juanita Henderson. She leaves behind four children to cherish her memory; Wenona(Mitchell) Mishue of Wagram NC, Oscar III(Amber) Henderson of Prospect NC, Crystal Henderson of the home, and Misty(Jonathan) Kiser of Jacksonville NC. Four sisters, Mrs. Janice McMillian of Matthews NC, Mrs. Barbara(Elmore) Anderson of Maxton NC, Mrs. Maidus Flanagan of Prospect NC, and Mrs. Shirley Goins(Versey) of Maxton, NC. Two brothers Mr. Belton(Diane) McMillian and Mr. Harry(Reba) McMillian both of Maxton NC.
