Mrs. Virginia Dare Locklear, of Lumberton, NC was born August 2, 1939 and departed this life August 17, 2018.
She was a homemaker for her three sons, three daughters, a very Good mother. “She always had a hot meal on the table and a place to lay our heads… we didn’t have much but having a good “Ma” that made sure we were taken care of was all we needed.”
She is preceded in death by her mother, Emma Locklear, her father, James Daniel Jacobs and her grandmother, Jane Locklear, a son, Wayne Jacobs; two grandsons, Corey Wayne Locklear and Shawn Stanly; and a great-granddaughter. Also preceded in death by brothers, Lacy Locklear, Earl C. “Snake” Locklear, Presley Locklear, Emery Locklear, Burlin “Candy” Locklear and Lester Locklear; two sisters, Lucy Hammonds and Mary Lilly Hammonds; a great-great-granddaughter, Mariah Cheyenne Jacobs.
Her survivors include: two sons Mitchell Jacobs and wife Ann of Parkton, Terry Jacobs of Lumberton; three daughters, Beverly Jacobs Locklear, Marlena Maynor Locklear and Emma Jene Maynor all of Lumberton; two brothers, David Jacobs and James Jacobs; sisters, Betty Oxendine, Diane Oxendine, Evelyn Jacobs, Kathleen Jacobs, Dora Dean Locklear, Patty Faye Collins, Kathy Oxendine and Wilma Ann Hammonds; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of relatives and friends.
