Welcome to the memorial page for

Mickey Vernon Oxendine

May 27, 1955 ~ November 4, 2017 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Mickey Vernon Oxendine was born May 27, 1955 to the late Mr. Vernon and Mrs. Nancy Chavis Oxendine.  He was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Gervis Oxendine.  He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter Cara Neil Oxendine, son-in-law Ben Ingold, three sisters, Sue(Sam) Kerns, Terryl Jane(Terrel) Sampson, and Teresa Bell along with a multitude of family and friends.

Mickey’s great love was music.  Mickey was a life-long member of the Henry Berry Band. He enjoyed singing, playing guitar and keeping the tradition of being a pioneer rock ‘in roll band member.  The youth of his time thrived on the music of this band. He was a renowned musician known as “one of the best slide guitar players to ever strap on a guitar”. A natural born talent, a quick study for any style of music.

An example of the many sentiments expressed by friends today, “Waking up this morning to such tragic news has truly put a hole in my heart today…  Mickey was a wonderful, talented, and most loved individual…  I met Mickey back in the early 80’s playing music, as we all enjoyed going to listen, and watch the “Henry Berry Band” play… These guys are legends!

We will never forget you Mickey, your contagious smile and the dedicated friendship and love that you so generously shared with all you met along your journey.  Your race is won now, my friend, but your life legacy, and music will live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew you.”  Go rest high dear friend.
