Melyar Locklear, 80, of 105 Garden Street, Pembroke, was born March 31, 1938 and departed to his heavenly home on May 30, 2018 at Southeastern Hospice House of Lumberton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 17 years, Vida Frances Locklear, of Pembroke, a daughter, Rose Marie Locklear and his parents, Odessa Mae Brewer and Munson Locklear of Pembroke.
Surviving is one brother, Marvin Locklear (Eleanor) of Shannon, NC, three grandchildren Karla Marie Locklear, Odessa White, and Cecily Locklear all of Texas, step children Tina Ann Locklear (Ted) of Lumberton, Valerie Oxendine (Colby) of Rowland and Joseph K Johnson (Michelle) of Pembroke; a special caregiver and step-grandson, Demetrus Locklear, a special step granddaughter, Kayla M. Jacobs (Patrick), 11 step grandchildren, ten step great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Melyar attended Pembroke High School c/o 1957, Colorado Springs Auto-Repair, was an avid craftsman, and a veteran of the US Army where he was a trained expert in Rifle M-1, Port Flame Thrower and Carbine Rifle. Melyar spent 30 years in Colorado Springs where he was submerged and lived within the indigenous Native Culture. Melyar and his wife loved Linda’s Restaurant and often visited three times while enjoying their family and friends.
