She was preceded in death by her husband James Edsel Carter and daughter Joan Carter.
She is survived by her children, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Carter of Cary, NC, Ms. Beverly Lowry of Apex, NC, Mr. James E. Carter Jr. of Pembroke, NC, Ms. Dawn Locklear of Pembroke, NC; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, family and friends.
