Luther Edmond Jacobs

Luther Edmond Jacobs, 80, of Lumberton NC passed away Tuesday September 18, 2018.  Mr. Luther is preceded in death by his parents Luther and Effie Jacobs, his brothers Wilson Jacobs, Johnny Jacobs, Joseph Jones, Neil Jones Jr., and his sisters Luellen McMillian, Carrie Mae Jones, Christine Chavis and Francis Hunt. 

   Mr. Luther is survived by his wife, Virginia E. Jacobs of the home; two sons, James Luther Jacobs and Kimberly of Salisbury NC, Curtis Ray Jacobs and Teresa of Huntersville, NC; and a daughter Andrea Beth Hosseini and Bashir of Fayetteville NC; one brother RC and Lummie Jacobs of Lumberton NC, two sisters, Dovie and Reverend Horace Oxendine of St. Pauls NC, and Vashtie and Ronnie Morgan of St. Pauls NC; three grandchildren, Aubry Luke Jacobs, Joseph Neil Jacobs and Olivia Elizabeth Hosseini as well as many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends including Casey Pierce, Early Jones , Howard and Montine Barton. 

  Mr. Luther has worked for the City of Lumberton for 56 years, while continuing to work up until his passing.  He has been a member of Smyrna Baptist Church since 1999, where he has been an active member of the brotherhood, driven the church bus and been dedicated to playing the guitar for the church choir. 

In Mr. Luther’s spare time he has enjoyed hunting, repairing cars, watching westerns, “tinkering” outside, and helping others in the community.

   Mr. Luther is beloved by so many in the community for his kind heart and generous and loving nature.  He has been a loving husband, father, grandfather and a devoted Christian.  He will be dearly missed by so many.
