Jessie Virginia (Hammonds) Locklear

Ms. Jessie Hammonds Locklear, 74, of 3089 Norment Rd, Lumberton, died on Thursday morning, August 17, 2017 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. John Willie Canady; her parents, Mr. Hartman and Rev. Lounita Hammonds; four brothers, James Earl Hammonds, Ertle C. Hammonds, Bobby E. Hammonds and Hartman Hammonds Jr. and one sister, Mrs. Mildred Hammonds Rogers.

Ms. Locklear was a member of The Rock Church of God, where she kept the treasury report for the Ladies Auxiliary and she worked tirelessly in the kitchen.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ericka Locklear of the home, Nicole McRae and her husband Kirk of Lumberton; two grandchildren, Jeremy Scott of Fuquay Varina and Destinee Scott of Lumberton; one sister, Barbara Graham of Lumberton; two brothers, Redell Hammonds of Hoke County and James N. Hammonds of Lumberton and a host of relatives and friends.
