Donald Love, the son of the late John D. Whitted and Dorothy McLaurin Love, was born on September 18, 1957, in Lumberton, North Carolina. He transitioned from this life on September 19, 2019 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest sister Carolyn Love-Townsend, a niece & nephew, Tanya Love Jenkins and Lewis Love.
Donald received his education at Lumberton Senior High School in Lumberton, NC and after graduation he joined the United States Army. He grew up in the church attending Bethany Presbyterian Church. Later in life, he began studying with the Jehovah’s Witness, where he continued until his passing.
He married the love of his life, Valerie Carter and they were blessed with a beautiful daughter Ursula.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Valerie Love and daughter Ursula Cheek (Kendell); adopted children, Shannon Carter (Regina) and Atiya Barnes; eight grandchildren, Jaylen Cheek, Kathleen Cheek, Leena Cheek, Laila Cheek, Aiyana Carter, Elijah Carter, Chasen Carter and Matthew Sherrod Barnes; three sisters, Faye Love Thompson, Phyllis Ann Love, Fayetteville, NC, Chaunda LuElla Love, Lumberton, NC; one brother, Tony Vernard Love, Lumberton, NC; five nieces, Dorothy Carol Love, Theresa Love, Sandra Love, Tracy Love, LaTreecha Thompson-Young and one nephew, Eric Thompson II; six aunts, Annie Younger and Eva James (Bobby), Philadelphia, PA, Vera Hassell (Caesar), Manhattan NY, Tilatha McLaurin, Lumberton, NC, Sadie McLaurin, Goldsboro, NC, Sandra McLaurin, Red Springs, NC; faithful friends Charlie Worthy, Gary Campbell, Duwayne Thompson and many great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
