Mr. Clinton Lee Thomas, age 85, of 57 Greenview Drive, Lumberton, NC departed this life onto God’s hands 0n Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born in Robeson County on July 14, 1932 to the Joseph Emanuel and Rachel Copeland Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his wife of fifty- eight years, Mrs. Annie Ruth Thomas; two sisters, Esther Lowery and Colleen Turner and two brothers, Edmond Thomas and Terry Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a loving Christian, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church. He retired from employment with the State of North Carolina after serving over 26 years with various law enforcement agencies (Saddletree Township Constable, N.C. Prison Guard, Robeson County Deputy Sheriff, N.C. Weight Station Officer) and the local state D.O. T. Highway Road Maintenance Office. After retirement, he enjoyed his regular breakfast meetings with some of his closest buddies at Burger King.
Mr. Thomas leaves behind to cherish his memories; a daughter, Vivian Thomas Locklear (Dock) of Lumberton; two sons, Clinton Thomas, Jr. (Nancy) of Greensboro and Wayne Thomas (Kathy) of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Russell Thomas (Betty) of Charlotte; two sisters, Myrtle Thomas Miller of Ohio and Lillian Faye Thomas Locklear of Pembroke; a special daughter-in-law, Cathy Locklear Thomas; a special nephew, Perry Blue; a special neighbor, Jerry Smith (Margaret); and a special friend, Ms. Odessa Graham.
