Cattie Mae (Locklear) Hunt

Mrs. Cattie Mae Locklear Hunt 99, of 743 Jaycee Hut Road, Pembroke, departed this life to her Heavenly home September 14, 2019.

   She was the daughter of the late James I. and Addie Harris Locklear. Preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, Albert C. Hunt; four brothers, Stacy Locklear, Lacy Locklear, Glassie Locklear and James I. Locklear, Jr.; two sisters, Lorine Locklear Hunt and Rosie Mae Locklear Moore.

   She is survived by daughters, Dixie T. Hunt Elk (Victor) of Montclair, VA and Iris N. Hunt Locklear (James) of Pembroke; six grandchildren, Leah C. Elk of Aldie, VA, Alison E. King (Trevor) of Lake Ridge, VA, Charity N. Locklear of Pembroke, Dara T. Elk of Montclair, VA, Barret J. Locklear  (Chasity) of Raeford and J. Noelle Locklear of Pembroke; one sister, Dorethea L. Lloyd of Norfolk, VA; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Hailey and Greyson; special friends, Larry and Kay Locklear, Myrna Strickland and Andrew Williams; additionally she was blessed by and blessed a host of relatives and friends. 

   A lifelong resident of Robeson County, Cattie Mae worked for the Public Schools of Robeson County for 35 years. During this time, she taught second and third grade, along with reading, at Prospect and Fairgrove. She earned a two year degree and then a four year degree at what is now UNCP.

   She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church since joining upon her marriage in 1944. She served in the United Methodist Women for many years on the local and conference levels.

   Her special joys were being outdoors working in her vegetable and flower gardens, visiting with friends, neighbors and being surrounded by family.
