Aree (Chavis) Locklear

Mrs. Aree C. Locklear of 114 Shekah Heights Drive, Pembroke, NC, departed this life Thursday, August 31st 2017.

Mrs. Locklear was born in Wakulla, NC on October 15, 1930, to the late Mohoney Woods and Mary Alice Chavis. She attended Youth for Christ Church. She retired from JP Stevens Textile Plant in 1991 after 25 years of service.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, John Carlie Emanuel, Aurthur Oxendine, and Holden Locklear; a special friend of 20 years Delton Canady; two sons, Harold (Monkey) Emanuel and TC Emanuel; two brothers, Jack Chavis and Albert (Buddy) Locklear; two sisters, Rosie Mae Chavis Godwin and Judy Chavis Clark; one granddaughter, Tessie Ann Emanuel and one grandson Joshua Lewis Emanuel.

She is survived by her three daughters Carolyn Emanuel McClain (Harold), Sharon Louise Emanuel, Robin Kay Emanuel (Vernon Strickland); two sons, Tommie Carl Emanuel, and Michael Dean Emanuel; one brother, Jake Chavis, and one sister, Charlotte Lois Chavis (Carl).

Mrs. Aree is also survived by 5 grandsons Charles K. Emanuel (Laura), Harold G. Emanuel, Paul Emanuel, Timothy Clark, and TC Emanuel Jr.; 10 granddaughters, Kimberly Emanuel, Michelle Watson (Neil), Melinda Emanuel Hernandez, Caroline Sanchez (Meeko), Naomi Carter (Mickey), Rachel Locklear (Travis), Christy S. Jacobs (Joshua), Whitley Emanuel, Ciera A. Jones (Matthew), Modest (Merk) Emanuel; 22 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, her best friend Cathay Brigman and a host of family and friends.

Mrs. Aree was a godly woman and mother committed to her family and many friends. She was always there to brighten the lives of others. Her favorite past time was shopping and walking around at Wal-mart. Her favorite colors where red and lavender.
