Reverend Tommy W. Hagans of 2364 Lowe Road, Lumberton, NC, departed this life on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Lumberton Health and Rehab Facility. He was 84 years old. Rev. Tommy was the son of the late Harlie Hagans and Bertha Jacobs Hagans. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Vera Blanche Hagans; two brothers, James and Glenn Hagans and one sister, Cyldie Monroe.
Mr. Hagans served during the Korean War as a CPL (Corporal). He enlisted into the US Army on October 25, 1951 and served until 1954. He was a driver for the 5th Transportation Truck Company. In 1952 he was stationed in Greenland for 14 months. Mr. Hagans served 13 years in the Army Reserve as an E5, Field 1st Sergeant.
Reverend Tommy W. Hagans devoted 52 years to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Hagans is survived by six daughters, Subrennia (Michael) Brooks of Lumberton, Gelena (Carl) Chavis of Pembroke, Lugennia (Leroy) Hunt of Lumberton, Donlinnia Locklear of Pembroke, Amber Locklear and Linda Dinkins, both of Lumberton; one son, Raymond (Jewel) Lowery of Lumberton; two sisters, Hazel Graham of Pembroke and Lizzie Lowery of Lumberton; sixteen grandchildren; one Grand Godchild; thirty-nine great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends and one special friend, along with a “Man’s best Friend” Mallie (his puppy). The family also would like to acknowledge his caregivers, Amanda Sampson and Ms. Phyllis.
