Josephine (Locklear) Locklear

Mrs. Josephine Locklear, 83, of the Saddletree Community, entered into eternity August 6, 2017.  She was born on January 4, 1934 and leaves behind her beloved husband of 65 years, Cecil B. Locklear.

A devoted homemaker, she was also a staple of the Saddletree Community where throughout her adult life, she helped many young people develop a strong work ethic on the family farm.  When not farming, entertaining and cooking for her neighbors and friends was her passion.  Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, flower arranging, fishing, listening to gospel music, and traveling to explore new places with Cecil.

Family was most important to her and she loved having everyone around often for large family meals.  She’d announce at every family gathering, “Cecil, this is all because of us.”

Mrs. Josephine Locklear is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Foster Locklear and Mary Belle Lowery Locklear; her sisters, Anna Belle Locklear, Sadie Rae Blanks, Dorothy Lowry, and Pylorus Locklear; and her brothers Willie Foster Locklear, Floyd Locklear, and Donald Locklear.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Cecil B. Locklear; children Patrisse Locklear (David) of Saddletree, Freida Spillers (Jackie) of Fairmont, Vanessa Locklear of Fayetteville, Jamie Locklear (Larry Willard) of Las Vegas, NV, Jodie Locklear (Jennifer Seagraves) of Atlanta, GA, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grand-children, one great-great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends.

A devoted Christian, who loved God and loved her church, Josephine was the star of her family and of her community at large.  She drew everyone in with her words, love, laughter, opinions, and simple presence.  She will be missed but carried in the hearts of us all
