Johnny Jones Jr

Mr. Johnny Jones Jr., 80, of Lumberton, NC, departed this life for his heavenly home on December 28, 2017.

Johnny was born in Robeson County on December 13, 1937 to the late Johnny Jones and Leola Revels Jones Bell. He was a retired business owner of Jones Meadowbrook Exxon and Jones Rental Properties. He loved old cars and collecting antiques.

He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Ora Lee Hammonds and Josie Rae Hammonds and two brothers, Therion (Jack) Jones and Lee Ander Jones.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Jones; his daughters, Teresa Jones (Craig), Kimberly Jones Brooks (Darwin), Connie Locklear (Wendell), Debbie Lowery (Anthony), Sandra Lowery, Jessica Lowery and Charity Haggins; a special granddaughter, Chloe Bell; his special dog, Oscar; brothers, James Hilbert Jones and Kenneth Jones; sisters, Lillian Thompson, Lynda Oxendine, Wanda Barnes and Sharon Lamkin; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Johnny or Jr as he was often called, was the oldest of twelve children. He left school to work and help support his family. He worked at Floyds Meadowbrook Texaco for many years before he and his wife Linda bought the service station and the legacy began with the Jones Texaco. It then became Jones Exxon, a full service gas station. One of the few service stations that checked your oil and tires while you filled your tank. They were known for their full service car wash with loyal customers for many years.
