Andrea (Oxendine) Price

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Andrea Oxendine Price was born April 16, 1947, in Robeson County, North Carolina.

She victoriously departed this life on April 11, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alford Oxendine; her mother, Eurania Lowry Stearsman; her brother, Dwight Oxendine; and stepfather, Lowell Tim Stearsman.

She leaves behind a caring and devoted husband, Jackie Ray Price, of 45 years. She leaves a legacy of strength, kindness, and of serving others for her sons, Ryan Dwight Price of Florida, and Gregory Allen Price and Tony Brandon Price of Kentucky; daughters, Tammy (James) Childress of Missouri, and Jennifer (Jamison) Boone of Kentucky; and stepdaughter, Jacquelyn Sue (Steve) Killingsworth of Alabama. As a full time Naw Naw, she leaves behind grandsons, Ashton, Michael and Spencer, along with granddaughters, Lilli, Shelby, Patience, and Hope.

Andrea moved to Kentucky in 1962 and graduated from South Hopkins High School in 1965. She worked for AT&T/Bell South for 17 years and retired early to enjoy her children. Later, in her empty nest years, she pursued a calling to teach special education. In 2004, she graduated Cum Laude from Brescia University with a bachelor of science in Special Education and later graduated Summa Cum Laude with a master degree from Brescia University. She enjoyed her years teaching in the Owensboro Public School System. She spent most of her tenure teaching in the Special Education Department at Seven Hills under Mike West and alongside Dale Rouse. After retiring she continued to work as a substitute up until the time she became ill in November 2017.

In Kentucky, visitation will be at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory, Owensboro on Friday, April 13, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service being held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. 

Andrea is thankful for the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center, Dr. P., Dr. M. and all of the caring staff that helped care for her during her illness.
